Fun Day Forgetfullness

Good afternoon,

I forgot to send this weeks OLA newsletter home. Sorry. Here it is, paper copy will be handed out on Monday.

Basically, Prize Giving starts at 6:30 p.m., children to be seated by 6:15, Kapa Haka to be at Cashmere Auditorium by 6:00.

And on to earlier in the day. Earlier in the day...

...repeated with each of five groups.

After lunch we had a lolly scramble...

...and then we ate them, singing...

And a good time was had by all.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

Last Reading Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after maths, where the children hopped outside to direct each other through the playground using compass directions...

...Room 2 Readers finished up their reading lessons thusly...

(It's funny what the human ear can block out that the digital microphone can not. Man the rest of the Room 2 Readers were noisy...)

...and said thanks.

After lunch Room 2 was veritably inundated with children to make, and help make Christmas cards...

...while Room 2 proper were in Room 12 making their own Chritsmas bookmarks.

Tomorrow is the J Team Fun Day. Please send the children to school in their P.E. gear.

Boo-Dee-Roo Wednesday

Good evening,

This morning we continued with directing each other through mazes, this time with compass directions. Here one child guides another through the maze, sans maze. Once the path is drawn, I am able to bring up the maze itself under the path to see if the directions were correct.

IWBs, eh? Try doing that on your white board. (Well, ok so you could do it with an OHP grid with the maze then overlaid on it...but this way is way more cool!)

Later on in the day White Group read The Boo-Dee-Roo.

(which I'll post once it's finished uploading...)

Last day of reading and writing interchange for the year tomorrow.

A-mazing Tuesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after Room 2 had directed Galoop out of his maze...

...the children had to work out an easy maze, and then instruct a partner to draw a path through the maze onto a blank grid, and then compare the results. Too easy! So they were also given a harder one to solve and direct.

The weather being what it was (and still is), the children ate inside. Towards the end of lunch, I walked in to witness them playing a-game-called-something-about-a-dog-and-a-bone...

And a good time was had by all.

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant

Good Idea Monday

Good afternoon,

This morning as part of our Big Book lesson (this morning focusing on decoding strategies) we read A Good Idea.

Speaking of good ideas, this afternoon, we made our own Christmas cards thusly.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant
