Bit of a late post, but there you go.

Play Ball Tuesday

Good afternoon,

We swam...

...we played ball...

...and we sang...

And Mary said, "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour".

Luke 1: 46-47

Where Monday

Good afternoon,

And a glorious afternoon it is too.

Today, after swimming...

...we started a new Geometry unit focusing on position. To start with, we read Hairy MacClary Scattercat, discussed how to describe where the cats were...

(fair to say, not my neatest work!)

...and then the children acted out parts of the book, describing where they were relative to the characters' surroundings.

After lunch Blue Group shared their text Secret Soup...

...and we discussed Mary's response to the Annunciation, which in turn became a discussion as to why we give gifts at Christmas.

Bye,

Room 2 Newsletter for Term 4 Week 6

Good morning,

Sorry for the delay. Just back from swimming, and while the children are fighting, opps, I mean, having a snack, I thought I'd let you know that here is the Room 2 Newsletter for Term 4, Week 6.

Water Safety Friday

Good afternoon,

Today's learning, once we finished having morning tea...

...was all about water safety. Specifically river safety. The class was split in three - one group on one side pushing the water away from them with kick boards, one group was on the other side, doing the same as those opposite, while the third group went between...

While we were waiting for the bus on the grass outside OLV, the children applied the game skills they have been learning during our fitness rotation, namely Octopus. Which they arranged and played completely off their own bat!

And that was our day, in terms of learning stuff! (Well, apart from how to get on with your peers...)

We left for the pool at 09:20 with my Tablet PC pen safely housed in, well, its housing (!), and when we got back it was...Du du du...missing! Arghh!

So most of the rest of the day was spent looking for the jolly thing!

Off we trot to assembly, and low and behold, when we get back, there it was sitting on the keyboard!

Later I got the whole story - some senior girls had come round while we were at swimming looking for Room 2's House Points, which they know is on an Active Inspire file that's run from my tablet onto the board. Well, I guess they must have tried to find it, and since the Tablet PC was in Tablet mode they had to use the pen to do it. For reasons unknown, they then took the pen when they left Room 2 for Room 1, realised they still had it and left it in Room 1 where, later in the day, one of the Room 1 children found it and started playing with it on the floor (gasp!). Mary saw it, took it, tried to use it as a pen (since that's what it looks like). No ink was forthcoming, so she threw it into the rubbish bin! Fast forward to Assembly, I mentioned to all and sundry that I was missing my tablet pen and if anyone found it please return it. And so they did! Ha!

In the meantime I had ordered another one (@ $68.00), so I had to rush off at 3:00 to cancel the order.

Still, it all came right in the end. Thankfully. This Tablet PC is absolutely brilliant, worth it's weight in gold, but only if you've got the pen!

Annunciation Thursday

Well, not, like, the real Annunciation. We just learnt about it...

Good afternoon,

This afternoon we learnt about the Annunciation, through discussion, colouring...

...and re-enacting.

Of course, earlier in the day we popped down to Kings for the fourth (of ten) swimming lesson.

Not As Many Photos Wednesday

Good afternoon,

Just a quick update today - we did Swimming, Maths, Reading and R.E. (the end results you would have received at home this evening). That was it. And I only really have photographic evidence of the first!

Hope the rain stops overnight.
