Last Full Day Wednesday

Good afternoon,

It's been a funny old day. Bit of Maths, bit of Writing, bit of reading and singing...

...a touch of art...

...and then we watched the Ballad of Little Joe, courtesy of Vegie Tales.

And a good time was had by all.

Tomorrow of course is our last [half] day. Pick up is at 12:30. In case I don't get to you in the morning, or at lunchtime, thank you for your support over the year, your children are lovely and it's been a lot of fun teaching them.

God bless,

Mr Grant

Last Reading Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after maths, where the children hopped outside to direct each other through the playground using compass directions...

...Room 2 Readers finished up their reading lessons thusly...

(It's funny what the human ear can block out that the digital microphone can not. Man the rest of the Room 2 Readers were noisy...)

...and said thanks.

After lunch Room 2 was veritably inundated with children to make, and help make Christmas cards...

...while Room 2 proper were in Room 12 making their own Chritsmas bookmarks.

Tomorrow is the J Team Fun Day. Please send the children to school in their P.E. gear.

Boo-Dee-Roo Wednesday

Good evening,

This morning we continued with directing each other through mazes, this time with compass directions. Here one child guides another through the maze, sans maze. Once the path is drawn, I am able to bring up the maze itself under the path to see if the directions were correct.

IWBs, eh? Try doing that on your white board. (Well, ok so you could do it with an OHP grid with the maze then overlaid on it...but this way is way more cool!)

Later on in the day White Group read The Boo-Dee-Roo.

(which I'll post once it's finished uploading...)

Last day of reading and writing interchange for the year tomorrow.

Where Monday

Good afternoon,

And a glorious afternoon it is too.

Today, after swimming...

...we started a new Geometry unit focusing on position. To start with, we read Hairy MacClary Scattercat, discussed how to describe where the cats were...

(fair to say, not my neatest work!)

...and then the children acted out parts of the book, describing where they were relative to the characters' surroundings.

After lunch Blue Group shared their text Secret Soup...

...and we discussed Mary's response to the Annunciation, which in turn became a discussion as to why we give gifts at Christmas.

Bye,

Mr Grant

Digital Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Lots and lots of digital image capture here in and around Room 2 today.

First on the way and at the pool...

...then Room 2 went a hunting around the place for geometric shapes...

Not so sure about the music...By the way, what's this shape?

After lunch Red Group acted out March Along with Me and the White Group shared Number One with us...

We finished the day with some more insights concerning the Advent Wreath.

Back to the pool in the morning!

Download Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning, Blue Group went outside and digitized their book for today Baby Bear's Hiding Place. This is their own work (I was busy taking another group), and all I can say is well, jolly done! I think they captured the story brilliantly!

And so to a very testing time this afternoon. Two, count 'em two, summative assessments! First up, The Communion of Saints post test, and then the Body Growth and Change post test. Many thanks to the parents who were able to come in to help, 'twas much appreciated.

Your children should have brought this home this evening. Our swimming timetable for next week.

Feel free to come along to help get 'em changed and such if you can.

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant

Blackberry Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, Green Reading Group shared their text for today with the rest of us...

After lunch we pulled together some ideas for what we would like to study next year...

...and then drew who can help and take care of us.

Knowledge of which will be needed tomorrow afternoon for their Body Growth and Change Test!

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant
