Day One...

Good afternoon,

We had a lovely day here in Room 2 today.

After a bit of housekeeping and such like, we acted out the shared book One Cold Wet Night, doubling up the characters so that everyone had a part to play.

While the readers read...

...the farmers got up out of the bed and went outside...

...the horses got into the bed...

...and the cows...

...and the sheep...

...and the dogs...

...and the weta.

The farmers came back and shooed everyone out. They all ran out. Skiddle-dee-doo. All except the weta. Which prompted the farmers to declare that they were going to sleep on the couch!

Then, after lunch, and a wee discussion about prayer...

...Room 2 2011 had their first dip in the pool for the school year.

Bit more talking, this time about why we have rules, learning the pack up routines (I missed out a couple of important bits too!), and that was the day.

You will notice, the children did not get any reading books this evening. They will tomorrow, though they may have already had them. Over the next week or so the children will be learning the routines of reading interchange before getting into the nitty gritty of reading instruction.

Which reminds me, I forgot to hand out the printed copy of the Week 1 newsletter. Please pick one up tomorrow morning. They are on the table along with the email checklist.

I think that's about it. See you tomorrow,

Mr Grant
