Fine Day Friday

Good afternoon,

'Twas a lovely fine day today.

Quite nice for a spot of running.

Then, just before lunch...

Thank you for the food we eat.
Yum yum.
Thank you for the friends we meet.
Such fun.
Thank you for the birds that sing-a-ling-a-ling.
Thank you God for everything.
Amen.
...we read a story, and then drew characters from it...

...before headeding off to the library.

Have a great weekend,

Outdoorsy Tuesday

Good afternoon,

And what a lovely afternoon it has been.

We've actually spent a larger-than-average percentage of the day outside.

First for fitness...

...then for P.E.

(I was taking Rooms 11 and 8 for shotput, so...I'm sure Room 2 their athletics activities!)

Though we did spend some time inside this afternoon - J Team Singing.

Watch out those Two Legged Mice!

Dragon Dragon Dragon!

Good afternoon,

Today ended with a visit from a real, live dragon. Maia's Australian Bearded Dragon, to be precise.

He is sooo cooooll! Thanks Maia for sharing your pet with us.

Earlier in the day, while I was out planning for next term, Mrs O'Neil took the class for reading...

...and R.E....

...and stuff!

And a good time was had by all!

Fun Day Friday

Or should that be Bunny Day Friday?

This morning R2 visited R12, who had some furry visitors of their own...

So, Mr Grant not being known for being backwards about coming forwards, took it upon himself to take to himself a bunny for Room 2.

Aww, 'twas so cute!

Then it was off to the hall to listen to a chior fresh from St Kevin's in Oamaru. The Edmond Rice Choir.

They were great!

After morning tea, more art...

...which we will finish up next Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

And a great time was had by all.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

No Photos Thursday

Good afternoon,

Such a busy day was had here in Room 2 that I didn't take any photos! Well, none that are worth sharing anyway...

I did manage to come up with this on which the children will display their big question, and their answers, as well as a picture.

Don't forget your library books for tomorrow,

Mr Grant

By the numbers Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after some fitness...

...Blue Reading Group stayed outside to produce The Donkey in the Lion's Skin, as well as listening to White Group's rendition of Number One!, a perennial favourite from Joy Cowley.

After lunch, we discussed some of the different groups we belong to...

...before going over our Inquiry questions and answers again. Thank you to the many who have already done the hard yards at home.

Much of the same tomorrow,

Have a good night,

Mr Grant

Fun Day Tuesday

Good afternoon,

We had a jolly day here at school today, topped up with J Team singing...

Jelly and Custard
Covered in Mustard
Pizza Three Days old.
Green delli ham
With blackberry jam
Stuck to the sides of my bowl.
I get their jelly on toast
And last week's roast
With a slimy ice cream cone.
All mixed in and
Slopped in a tin
I think I'll find my bone!
...and P.E.

Hope that shake didn't startle anyone...blimmin thing, now I have to reset the board - the data projector has been shaken out of alignment!

Mixing It Up Monday

Good afternoon,

This morning R10 joined us for prayers.

Emily and Sharna read a couple of lovely prayers for us. Thanks for coming over guys, it was lovely to have some of last year's Room 2 bods back in Room 2 over for a visit.

As it was a kinda wet, Room 2 stayed inside for morning tea...

...watching Sponge Bob Square Pants! (Yay! My DVD drive's playing movies again!)

After morning tea, reading (when Red Group acted out their text Football at the Park), a later than usual Values Assembly, and lunch, we discussed how our families look after us.

Which, funnily enough, is how we ourselves can be more like Jesus.

Right, onto inquiry. As I said in the Room 2 Newsletter for Term 3, Week 8...
The children just need a simple answer really, since the focus on the inquiry was to produce a decent “big” question. A simple answer in terms that the children can understand. Like “Why did the government stop flying the Skyhawks?” “Because it was going to cost $35 million to refurbish them [to keep them flying].” Or “Why do helicpoters carry bombs?” “To support ground troops.” Stuff like that.

Please also find a couple of good pictures that help answer the question (or would look good on a poster) and email me the link so's I can print the pictures in colour here at school.

Good luck!

Mr Grant
