They were brilliant!
This evening's performance was even better than this afternoon's.
I expect that tomorrow evening's performance will be better again!

Another Rehearsal [Tues]day
Good afternoon,
Another day was spent rehearsing all or our scenes for tomorrow's production, and they are looking flash!
In between trips to the hall, Room 2 [Readers] even got some reading done!
Thanks Mrs O'Neill.
Tomorrow's the big day.
Please send the children to school in their sports gear, and with a bagged morning tea/lunch. Lunch boxes will be just too bulky, considering they will have to carry their drink bottles and costumes (which are still here at school, safe and sound!).
The bus will leave here at 0930, and we'll be back sometime after 1400.
Please have them at Villa by 1745 (that's 5:45 pm), so's we've got time to get them changed and...stuff. Sorry, you'll have to stay outside 'till 1810!
I think that's about it.

Dress Rehearsal Monday
Good evening,
I was in the hall all day, and Room 2 was scattered thither and yon through the J Team, leaving four Room 2's, along with the rest of the Belly Button Boogie children in Room 2 with Mrs O'Neill. If that makes sense.
Tomorrow will be another rehearsal day (which I'm quite pleased with - I need the practice!), though we are planning to work in a reading interchange.
Keep practicing these at home!

THE FROG KING
Far, far away
There was a spring:
There lived a frog
And the frog was king.
King of the pond
And he would boast
That he was ruler
From coast to coast.
His mighty words
Spread 'cross the land
Until they crossed
O'er the sea's salt strand,
Into the kingdom
Blue and deep
Where the whales swim
And the dolphins leap.
There was a turtle
Brave and free
Said: 'I will go
Test this mystery'.
He swam through rivers,
Lakes and fords
So he could visit
The great frog lord.
And when at last
He reached the spring
There was the frog,
There was the king.
'Bow down before me'
The frog said.
The turtle jumped in
And the frog was dead!

Funday Friday
Good afternoon,
We had a fun day here today.
We interrupted Mr Atherton after everyone had had their turn reading their mihi to learn Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Maori...
After library...
...we had a bit of free time...
...before spending the rest of the day (after lunch, that is) in and out of the hall, practicing for the whole school song at the end of next week's production.
They're all sounding really good.
Keep practicing!

Mary Thursday
Good afternoon,
We had a special treat this morning. After morning tea we all trotted off to the hall, along with the rest of the J Team and the M Team to watch a presentation of stories from Mary MacKillop's life, as told by a couple of actors from across the ditch.
And a good time was had by all.
After lunch, we had a bit of R.E., this time all about the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
Then some more production practice, this time just with us, minus the children who were out for PMP.
The Frog King...
...Paradise Island...
...It's a Long Way to Tipperary/Pack Up Your Troubles...
...and the Belly Button Boogie.
Tomorrow is our library day, so please remember to bring back your books - no returns, no new issues!
CU in the morning,
Mr Grant
Oh, and keep practicing at home. Belly Button Boogiers, this means you!

Power Cut Wednesday
Good afternoon,
This morning, just before fitness...
...the school experienced a brief power cut. Funny how your IWB won't work without the old juice coming in from the mains!
Thankfully the power came back on in time for White Group to share today's text.
For R.E. this afternoon we had a bit of a catchup and paste session before singing a couple of R.E. songs.
Like this one.
And that was pretty much our day.
I hope we all get a better night's sleep tonight,
Mr Grant
Oh, and keep practicing at home. Belly Button Boogiers, this means you!

Alice
You told us about this golden one
Jack
And this one
Alice
And that one
Grandma
Its bedtime!
Jack/Alice
You've told us so much more
Than we knew before.
The time has gone so quickly...
Grandad
It's bedtime!
Jack/Alice
Granny, oh Grandad!
A rainbow is overhead.
One more tale from the Button Box:
It's still quite early,
Too soon to go to bed!
Tell a story one more time...
ALL (or Grandma on bold words)
Magic in the button box,
Sunshine in the button box,
Laughter in the button box,
It's full of wonder!
Tell us what the buttons say!
Lift us from a dreary day!
Take us somewhere far away
We wanna go there!
Stories make a tapestry
Telling famly history.
Open up the button box
And let the stories unfold.

No Rat Tuesday
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your kind messages of condolence concerning Rattie's parting. Thanks Molly for the flowers, and thanks Gabriella for the biscuit!
No decision will be made about replacing the boys 'till next term, so...watch this space. (Well, not this space. This space won't tell you anything new. Any decision will be broadcast in a new post. Just to be clear...)
This morning we started a new fitness routine - skipping.
As you can see, it was kinda wet out, so the children had their lunch inside, before heading outside for a run around.
After lunch I was busy with the guitarists for a bit, so Mrs Campbell took Room 2 over to watch the Irish dancers in the hall.
And a good time was had by all.
CU in the morning,
Mr Grant

Rattie Has Passed Away
Good evening,
Or not so good evening...
Unfortunately, Rattie passed away this evening, some time between I transferred him to the smaller cage to bring him home for the night, and when I brought him in from the car into the lounge when I got home.
He was very lethargic all day, and felt quite cool when I had him in my lap after school this afternoon.
Poor wee chap.
He will be missed.

Monday Wet Day
Good afternoon,
Welcome to winter! Today, after reading...
...the children stayed inside for lunch...
...watched themselves for R.E....
...and then we discussed balloons, and being all you can be.
Please keep practicing these at home.

THE FROG KING
Far, far away
There was a spring:
There lived a frog
And the frog was king.
King of the pond
And he would boast
That he was ruler
From coast to coast.
His mighty words
Spread 'cross the land
Until they crossed
O'er the sea's salt strand,
Into the kingdom
Blue and deep
Where the whales swim
And the dolphins leap.
There was a turtle
Brave and free
Said: 'I will go
Test this mystery'.
He swam through rivers,
Lakes and fords
So he could visit
The great frog lord.
And when at last
He reached the spring
There was the frog,
There was the king.
'Bow down before me'
The frog said.
The turtle jumped in
And the frog was dead!
Paradise Island
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
We go to Jamaica
We crossin' the sea
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
Where you pick the mango
Right offa the tree
Sunshine in the winter.
Sunshine in the fall.
Kingston Town has never ever
Seen the snow at all!
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
We go to Jamaica
We crossin' the sea
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
Where you pick the mango
Right offa the tree
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way to be free.
Mento, ska calypso
Listen to the band
If you want a coconut
Just pick one from the sand!
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
We go to Jamaica
We crossin' the sea
We go to the sunshine
The paradise island
Where you pick the mango
Right offa the tree
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,
We know the way,

Funday Friday
Good afternoon,
Today the children were climbing the walls...literally!
Then it was off to the library.
To be joined by Room 8, for a few minutes anyway.
Right, off to get ready for the disco tonight.
CU then,
Mr Grant
Oh, and this notice was supposed to go out tonight, but I've only adapted it for the Belly Button Boogie children now!

Tickets will be available for purchase from senior students set up in the school office between 8.30am and 9.00am, and in the afternoon between 2.50pm and 3.15pm, as of Monday 20th June.
If you are unable to come in and purchase tickets you can place your order in an envelope and give it to your child to hand in to the senior students who will then arrange tickets and send them home with your child.
Ticket prices are $5.00 per seat.

Good afternoon,
This afternoon we had an R.E. lesson on the Holy Spirit. We showed how we can show the Holy Spirit working in us...
...and how the Holy Spirit makes us smile!
...before consolidating our learning through a Holy Spirit worksheet thusly...
(We also spotted an error in the R.E. digital resource...)
After R.E. it was off to production practice, for the first time in the hall.
And a good time was had by all.
Tomorrow is our library day, so please remember to bring back your library books.
Bye for now,
Mr Grant
