End of Term Friday

Good evening,

And welcome to the holidays. Yay!

We had a fairly laid back day. We started with a bit of Counting the Beat...

We'll be doing a bit more of that next term.

Then off to the hall for a bit of jump jam with the M Team...

...and our first J Team Mass for the year. Which was quite lovely.

The afternoon was really laid back. Free time and a run around on the play ground.

Have a great holiday. Keep safe and God bless,

Mr Grant

Digital Media Thursday

Good afternoon,

Not much content from me today...

...but quite a bit from the children.

First up we have Blue Reading Group sharing today's book with us - Riddles.

Which they also recorded.

As it happens, they also recorded yesterday's book, Danger.

Green Reading Group also produced some digital content, in the form of acting out their book for today, Where is Miss Pool?

All very clever stuff.

To end the day we had one more discussion as to the difference between what happened when rocks hit the earth, and when rocks hit gas giants.

Last day of the term tomorrow. Please come spik and span for Mass in the morning - no polar fleeces to be worn in church.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Few Photos Wednesday

Good afternoon,

'Twas a bit busy today, so the camera was mostly inactive all day, apart from during fitness...

...and reading.

After lunch, we discussed the Crucifixion and Resurrection (hence the sheet they took home today), and we read this poem together.

Finally, we finished the day with a test to explain why we live on Earth and not another planet in the solar system. They all did really well.

Last day of maths and reading for the term tomorrow, so rest up!

Funday Tuesday

Good afternoon,

St Marys School pupils visited us today here at OLA, and a good time was had by all. So much so, that I have far too many photos to sort through at the moment of the leaky water container race that I was supervising to show you! Lots of water, lots of smiles, lots of laughing, it was all good!

Earlier one of the groups that the whole school was divided into, along with a selection of St Marys children came into Room 2 to watch, and then draw, Larry the Cucumber dressed as Little Joe, from the Ballad of Little Jo

Sorry for the small size of this Blogger clip - You Tube stripped out the audio.

Earlier in the day, before our guests arrived, we discussed Jesus' Last Supper, and how he taught His disciples to serve one another through the example of Him washing their feet. So we did the same.

(Ironically, they came back to the room with dirtier feet than when they have left because their wet feet picked up the silt left over from the earthquake!)

Tomorrow afternoon Room 2 will be having another summative assessment (read "test"), this time to see how many reasons that they can give to explain why we live on Earth and not another planet in the solar system. Please quiz your children at home tonight. This might serve to prompt their synapses.

Good luck!

How To Draw Larry The Cucumber...

...as Little Joe from the Veggie Tales show The Ballad of Little Joe, based on the biblical story of Joseph.

We'll be looking at this in a bit more detail tomorrow.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Room 2 Walks on the Moon...Sorta...

Good afternoon,

This, afternoon Room 2 acted out the story of Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem.

Mrs O'Neil even picked up the guitar to lead the class in singing the song in the above clip. Well done her!

Then Mrs O'Neil took the children into the sandpit to demonstrate how craters are formed.

Now if we had time, and chocolate, we could have done it like this...

And just to prove that the children did actually spend some time inside today, they then came back to share their learning as to why we live on Earth and not on another planet in the solar system with her.

Good stuff!

Don't forget that tomorrow is a sports gear only day.

CU tomorrow,

Mr Grant

People Friday

Good afternoon,

Thanks to some expert tuition by Mrs Clapp, Room 2 drew more people this morning...

...which, along with the world that they created last week, are now on display in the office. Check them out.

Prior to art, we popped outside for some fitness...

...and then, after art, we popped outside again for a game of Duck Duck Goose.

After lunch, half of Room 1 joined us...

...and we went off to assembly.

And a good time was had by all.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

Oh yes, and we also drew visual representation for reasons why live on Earth and not another planet.

Mr Grant Shaves For A Cure

Good evening,

And very many thanks to all those who have supported me in this endeavor!

Mr Grant

No Handwriting Thursday

Good afternoon,

We had a couple of difference in our programmes today.

The first was due to the interesting developments to Room 12. The pouring of the concrete for the veranda...

...which kinda pushed fitness out of the morning, and, after lunch...

... and the RE [God] Post Test, those of us not involved in PMP went outside to run around the playground instead of handwriting!

(Sorry if I missed your child, they came down faster than the camera could click!)

Mrs Clapp is back with us tomorrow morning, and half of Room 1 will be joining us after lunch, so...

CU tomorrow.

Bald and shiny.

A Class of Angels

Good afternoon,

After a touch of writing...

...fitness, again with Room 11...

...and reading...

...we carried on Monday's discussion about God's messengers, angels. To follow up the discussion, the children coloured in this here thusly...

R.E. assessment tomorrow!
